Pepper sprays can only be used in self defense or an arrest
situation. Misuse is a serious matter. Pepper spray is legal in all
states but some states and cities have restrictions.
States with pepper spray restrictions:
Wisconsin: Only pepper spray, no tear gas, UV dye or any combination
and only 10% concentration. No larger than 60 grams in size. Must
have safety feature.
New York: May only be purchased from licensed firearms dealers or
licensed pharmacists in the state.
Massachusetts: May only be purchased from licensed firearms dealers
in the state.
Michigan: OC spray can be no stronger than 2% concentrate. Most
companies have special formulations for Michigan.
When Is It Legal To Use Pepper Spray?
When in doubt about
legal restrictions, check with your local police department or local
sheriff.
